The Region of Taurenia

A map of the Taurenian Peninsula, the approximate borders of the Kingdom of Taurenia are highlighted.

This region is named after the kingdom of Taurenia, which in terms of the three main epochs of Aleen-gha has been relatively recent. In geographical terms, this area can be described as the western half of the southeastern peninsula of Gignes.

Cities, Towns & Fortresses[edit]

Castle Taurenia[edit]

Castle Taurenia: Basement Castle Taurenia: First Floor Castle Taurenia: Second Floor Castle Taurenia: Roof The kings and queens of Taurenia all reside within the expansive castle and fortress, located only a few hours travel from Tauro.

Ganthovin[edit]

Ganthovin: Vonspar Syllanus The primary elven city within the Wood of Keen Eyes. The head of the elven counsel, Galanodel, resides here.

The Sword & Feather[edit]

Konvel Tradeport[edit]

This modest port acts as Taurenia's gateway of trade around the Millagea Ocean. Many ships coming from far away lands make their stop here for trade and harbor.

Strongheim[edit]

This is the capital city of the Stoneshield Dwarves that is nestled deep under the Zauk Mountains.

Deep Unknown[edit]

A mysterious cavern located deeper than any mine beneath Strongheim, the dwarves say that strange beasts lurk there, waiting for prey to stumble in unwittingly.

Stoneshield Tomb[edit]

The burial site of many a dwarf of the Stoneshield Clan, deep beneath Strongheim.

Uraed[edit]

A subterranean palace deep beneath Strongheim. Stoneshield royalty reside here.

Tauro[edit]

The capital city of Taurenia. Tauro and its citizens are the guardians of the western half of the peninsula. They are allied with the dwarves who reside in the Zauk mountains.

Ungaart[edit]

This tribal village was founded by human barbarians who live and hunt in the Yugov Marshes. They sometimes trade furs and other natural goods with Konvel and Tauro.

Landmarks[edit]

Bay of Calm Winds[edit]

This bay holds all of the trade ships for rest and repair. It is renowned for its absence of inclement weather of any kind. Legends say that Melora, goddess of the sea, placed a blessing on this area back in Shargas (SH), the Age of the Settled Flame.

Cloudy Island[edit]

Halflings who trade and barter with ships coming and going to and from Konvel reside on the eastern coast here. This island also houses one of the locations of the Triumvirate of Bahamut.

Lake Choltok[edit]

Nestled deep within the Zauk Mountains, hobgoblins are known to reside in hamlets dotted along the coast of this vast lake. Myths abound that there is a secret entrance to a long forgotten tomb buried under the deepest areas of the lake.

Tauren Fields[edit]

These vast fields span for hundreds of miles and take up most of the area between the Zauk Mountains and the Ironel Sea.

Wood of Keen Eyes[edit]

Home to several natural creatures, including the elven city of Ganthovin and a druid grove.

Yugov Marshes[edit]

This vast swamp lies between the Wood of Keen Eyes and the Ironel Sea. Legend states that a massive multi-headed hydra resides here who is supposedly immortal.

Goblinoid Coliseum[edit]

Bugbears, hobgoblins, and goblins all run this gladiator's coliseum nestled and hidden away deep in the Zauk Mountains. Raiding parties gather up prisoners and use them here to for entertainment and lining their pockets with gold.

Grave of Malaron[edit]

The Grave of Malaron Located deep within the Yugov Marshes, this watery den is home to the dreaded Malaron.

Nymph Grove[edit]

This well hidden grove is home to a group of nymphs, one of which was captured by the King of Taurenia in TH 1590. For more information on this, check the Slaadi Invasion adventure page.

Silent Wind Grove[edit]

This secluded druid grove is nestled somewhere north of Ganthovin. The druidic order of the Silent Wind is composed of members from all races, including elves, eladrin, humans, gnomes, and halflings. They call themselves the protectors of the Wood of Keen Eyes and sometimes make patrols into the Yugov Marshes in order to stave off attacks from the swamp dwellers.

Roads & Pathways[edit]

River's End Road[edit]

The River's End Road follow the last stretch of the great Tauren River, officially starting at Castle Taurenia, going through Tauro and ending at Konvel Tradeport.

Stone's Throw Road[edit]

This road starts in Tauro and ends at the eastern border of the Zauk Mountains at the grand entrance of Strongheim.
