Locales of the Airborne Region of Nack

An updated map of the Air Islands of Nack.
Airborne Region of Nack.
A more complete, but old version of the Air Islands.
A rudimentary map of the Air Islands of Nack.

The air-island region of Nack is located above the cloud canopy and consists of many hundreds of floating islands on which cities are built, ruins crumble, and monstrous creatures dwell.

Large Locales[edit]

This is a list of the large locales of the airborne region of Nack that span beyond any single listed region.

Cirrus Strait[edit]

The Cirrus Strait is consistent wind tunnel that stretches between the northern islands and the centralized sky-city of Namara. Pirates are known to patrol this region.

Cloud Canopy[edit]

A sunny day above the Cloud Canopy.
The world below Nack is covered by what is known by the Cloud Canopy. To the inhabitants, the world below might as well be an unknown hell, for anyone who ventures below the canopy is never seen or heard from again.

Islands[edit]

Below is a list of all the islands of Nack, including the smaller locales within each island.

Boar Herpes Academy[edit]

Boar Herpes Academy.
See the details of Boar Herpes after the fall here.

Established c. SH 200, Boar Herpes made a name for itself as a neutral place of knowledge, magic, and the gods. The school and surrounding campus exist as its own island and is separate from the empire's control, but is still somewhat influenced by Nack. The Half-Elf cleric called Halcyon has recently (SH 670) set out from Boar Herpes in search of new discoveries and knowledge.

At some point in time, Boar Herpes had fallen to the world below in the center region of Altha-Feor. And despite this catastrophic event, the academy managed to continue in its studies and growth for many thousands of years afterward.

Bruya[edit]

This smaller island houses a wizarding tower. Selubrius lives there.

Selubrius' Radiant Tower[edit]

Selubrius' Radiant Tower
This tower is brimming with magical energy and is owned by the wizard Selubrius.

Canary Island[edit]

This small and remote island was once the home of Elymas Auternus (now Umer Deszeld). It was destroyed in a mysterious and divine Cataclysm in SH 665. There may be some faint correlation between this island and the fabled Canary Scrolls.

Ingeni[edit]

Ingeni.
The isolated desert island of Ingeni is home to the three Tribes of Ibn Almawt which consist of Air, Earth, and Fire Genasi. These tribes are fiercely militant and xenophobic, and their exposure to the wider world of Nack is practically nonexistent.

Dunes of Qa'Nariin[edit]

These dunes have shifting sands that make it near impossible to locate the Sphinx of the Source and the Temple of Ibn Almawt without a local guide.

Temple of Ibn Almawt[edit]

Hidden and protected by Etekhas, Sphinx of the Source, this temple has been cursed several centuries ago after the schism that drove the three Tribes of Ibn Almawt apart.

SH 671, April 4th: A group of outsiders managed to get past Etekhas, the Sphinx of the Source, and invade the Temple. After fighting past the undead versions of his most loyal followers, they confronted and defeated the Mummy Lord version of Ibn Almawt. The curse of the temple was lifted and for their valor, Ibn Almawt granted the adventurers access to the Corona of Gates, a legendary artifact created by the original Nackians. (read more on Episode 12: "The Temple of Ibn Almawt")

Lallousa[edit]

It is said that the waters of Lallousa are born from the god of storms himself, Ulsted. But that is merely a human perspective upon this mystical place. The progeny of the Svar-tu claim that the island was created both by the dragon goddess Locqwerthalyn and the elven goddess Myralda, and the land itself symbolized the harmony between elf and dragon. However, since its occupation by the humans of Nack, the land has been gradually reaped to fuel the empire's massive rate of consumption and destruction.

SH 656: During an exploratory expedition, the sailor and warlock Cordithas Meyne discovered his soon-to-be familiar -- a pseudodragon who went by the name of Zephyrus. The pseudodragon was found deep within the untouched region of the island, where the mystical harmony of elf and dragon still held some weight. Cordithas considered the magnitude and serendipity of the event, as he sees Zephyrus as a symbolic remnant of the legendary intertwining of the fey and draconic. Since then, the two have been inseparable.

Locq[edit]

This mystical island is supposedly the birthplace of all dragonkind and is said to be the home of the dragon goddess Locqwerthalyn. It is where the the goddess was finally destroyed and petrified by what is now known as the Nack Empire. Now the island is a ruin and a reminder of the destruction wrought by humankind and the majesty that was once the realm of dragons.

Dragon Temple[edit]

This temple was erected in reverence to the mother of all dragonkind Locqwerthalyn. It is rumored that the largest hoard of all dragons rests within its austere walls.

c. SH 500: Sometime during or after the end of the War of Ascendancy and the final fall of dragonkind, the temple fell into ruins, blocking any reasonable access to the treasures that supposedly lay within.

Valley of Locqwerthalyn[edit]

This massive valley is marked as the location where the Dragon Goddess Locqwerthalyn fell in the Battle of Locq.

Fortress of Bone[edit]

This massive structure, made up entirely of wicked bones, suddenly appeared within the Valley of Locqwerthalyn seemingly out of nowhere. However, it was hidden by an invisible force field, where it resided in the valley within a pocket dimension of sorts. Therefore, it was hidden from view outside of a certain radius from the fortress.

SH 671, April 10th: It is revealed by the adventurers that the bone devil Qalox after fatefully drawing the Throne card from the Deck of Many Things, was granted a fortress which turned up in Locq. After terrorizing and plaguing the area with a devilish sickness for weeks, a group of adventurers infiltrated the fortress, killed Qalox and caused the fortress to collapse, ending the effects of the Throne card. (read more on Episode 4: "The Tree of Pain" and Episode 16: "The Reckoning of Qalox")

Tomb of Locq[edit]

Selubrius' Radiant Tower
The Tomb of Locq is located beneath the crater where the legendary Locqwerthalyn fell in the Battle of Locq. It is rumored that the fabled Canary Scrolls are hidden deep within the catacomb.

Mastik[edit]

This large island is covered in a dense jungle, and is widely known to be the location of the Tomb of King Raylin.

Tomb of King Raylin[edit]

The Tomb of King Raylin.
Located within the jungles of Mastik, this tomb, while relatively well known by any semi-educated individual, has rarely been explored due to the unseemly amount of undead denizens that dwell within. According to Gruber, there is a magical amulet buried deep within this tomb.

Meowlo[edit]

This border island is home to the rare and elusive catfolk tribes that are loosely unified against outsiders. Although the catfolk of Meowlo trade from time to time with Runeterra and other independent merchants, they are fiercely xenophobic and have retaliated against the slightest sign of trespassing. And the only explanation of the Empire of Nack not completely annexing this tiny community stems from the sheer insignificance of its existence, at least in the eyes of the humans of Nack.

Alba Ashdown hails from this strange island.

SH 671, March 23rd: With the guidance of the catfolk dogfighter Yellow Briarclaw, a significant portion of the Runeterra Fleet and the varied fleet compiled by the Blue Bandits flew upon the shores of Meowlo in search for allies in the massive battles to come against the Nack Fleet. (read more on Episode 10: "A Molten Reckoning")

Monastery of the Black Wind[edit]

This tiny island is home to a group of monks known as the Black Wind. It holds the monastery and very little else.

SH 671, January 23rd: After Lats Boldengrin and his companions visited the monastery and discovered that it was secretly overtaken by agents of the Molten Juggernaut, the monastery was set ablaze. The adventurers fled the scene as the monastery itself and the surrounding woods burned down.

Namara[edit]

An island in and of itself, this sprawling sky-city is the central hub for the Empire of Nack. It acts as the trading mecca for many of the neighboring islands, and is the home location of the Dragon Shipwright's Guild.

Inn of the Copper Sweep[edit]

A lesser-known dive amidst the glowing city of Namara. It is frequented by a vampire spawn known as Farlin and run by a man named Walhorn.

SH 671, January 25th: The lower level of the inn is set ablaze by a wizard gone mad. After sending off a cone of cold and hurling multiple fireballs, the once reputable wizard named Prodiga Skylight was slain by a group of adventurers in search of Farlin. It is unknown as to whether the inn itself still stands or if it succumbed to the fire. (read more on Episode 10: "A Vampire Lord's Betrayal")

Inn of the Peaceful Storm[edit]

One of many bars and inns in the city, this is the usual meeting place for Gruber and others looking for work.

Lil'uns Respite[edit]

This orphanage was founded on SH 654 with help from the halfling Natasha who gave much of the money she found as a treasure hunter to the organization until her death in SH 662.

Namara Library[edit]

This immense library is home to tens of thousands of books and tomes that keep the histories of the Empire safe and hidden away. Scholars from all over Nack travel here to expand their knowledge.

SH 671, January 13th: It is discovered by the Blue Bandits that the location of the Canary Scrolls is likely hidden somewhere deep within the library.
SH 671, January 25th: The adventurers find the location of the Canary Scrolls, only to discover that they had recently been taken by someone in the Nack Fleet. The library was then overrun by little beasts known as dragonites.

Sky Citadel[edit]

The seat of power of the Nack Empire, the Sky Citadel is where the emperor resides. It is heavily guarded and its central spire jabs into the heavens themselves, looming over the citizens of Namara.

Steel Manor[edit]

This manse is owned by the Nack Steel Company and is often occupied by wealthy merchants, political leaders and other well-to-do citizens of the Nack Empire and Namara. Hiruvorn is suspected of having a room in the penthouse suite of the building.

Runeterra[edit]

This mountainous air island is home to several clans of dwarves. Two major cities are nestled within the stony landscape: Demacia and Bandle City.

Sparinon[edit]

The island of Sparinon is the last public bastion of the Svar-tu elves. Their capitol city, also called Sparinon hides amidst the forests.

Deadfall River[edit]

This river divides the island of Sparinon in two, and is a primary source of water for the island.

Grandlport[edit]

On the southwest edge of Sparinon rests the sleepy half-elven town of Grandlport. Men from Namara and other bustling island cities travel here to trade goods with the half-elven merchants who offer herbs, spices, and foodstuffs that can only be found on the elven island. After the Empire's occupation of Sparinon, this town became the symbolic and physical gateway to the elven peoples of the island. As such, many half-elves were born here and now represent the majority of the population.

Sparinon (City)[edit]

The hidden elven city of Sparinon is located on its own island of the same name. It is home to many elves of a handful of Houses, including the very influential House Skyflower.

SH 671, February 25th: The soulless dragon Thex and a horde of fellow soulless dragons invade the hidden city and manage to somehow break through its illusory veil. The city is terrorized and its citizens are slaughtered over the next few days.

Anantha's Singing Steel[edit]

Run by the flamboyant Anantha, this illustrious shop sells primarily magical weapons and armor.

Palace of the Svarsun[edit]

This is the central and largest structure in the city of Sparinon, and houses the current royalty and any dignitaries that are accepted by said royalty. Many Houses also vie for residence from time to time within the palace.

SH 671, February 26th: The soulless dragon Thex takes residence within the Palace and manages to take hostage a handful of highborn Svarsun elves along with Queen Vlaya and her unborn child. (read more on Episode 2: "Sparinon is Burning!")

Pallovin's Sorcerous Sundries[edit]

This shop, run by a studious old elf named Pallovin, sells magical trinkets and baubles, ranging from Immovable Rods to all ranges of magical rings. Pallovin also has a younger female assistant named Sara.

Temple of Myralda[edit]

This beautiful temple is dedicated to Myralda, the Svar-tu goddess of life and joy. Its wooden walls are adorned with an ornate bluish inlay and water flows through streams and fountains within the temple, the source of which is unknown.

Yung's Alchemical Creations[edit]

This small shop in Sparinon is run by a rather racist rock gnome known as Yung. The shop sells primarily potions, philters, and oils.

Spatera[edit]

A small island that holds no true interest except for the old haunted castle that rests atop the central hill. The gloomy town of Helmar rests at the southern edge of the island and the towns of Blasphas and Shivash are located on the southeastern and northeastern edges respectively.

Sweetwater[edit]

This island is hidden in the cloud above, somewhere north of Mastik. Legend has it that many mysterious creatures and magical treasures rest on this island, but nobody in living memory can prove witness to the island itself. Now, it is certain that unicorns and faeries live on the island. The woman called Jalathee has also been stranded here for several years (starting circa SH 665). The Sweetwater that the island is named for has a translucent, purplish hue and flows in vast quantities in streams and rivers throughout the island. Once drinking it, an individual feels sufficiently sated and well-rested for the next 24 hours.

Sweetwater River[edit]

Consisting of the mysterious purple "sweetwater" this river flows out of the Sweetwater Sepulcher in a massive 150-foot waterfall and flows through the island of Sweetwater until it flows of the island altogether in a massive stream and through the cloud canopy.

Sweetwater Sepulcher[edit]

Sweetwater Sepulcher Level 1Sweetwater Sepulcher Level 2Sweetwater Sepulcher Level 3
Legends suggest of an ancient burial ground somewhere on the island of Sweetwater. It is located within a massive cliff, from which the Sweetwater River springs. A long, winding, steep staircase built into the rock wends its way up to the entrance, 150 feet up into the cliff side. After an initial investigation in the front entrance of the sepulcher, it seems as if there was some catastrophe that took place hundreds of years ago (c. SH 10).

Taurë[edit]

The forested island of Taurë rests near the edge of the realm of Nack. It is largely inhabited by woodland elves known as the Svar-enna and has remained in relative isolation from the rest of the realm since the fall of the Svar-tu and the rise of the Empire of Nack. The elven sisters Naïlo and Leucosa Enna hail from Taurë.

SH 666: The island of Taurë was ravaged by a singular, ancient blue dragon who slaughtered nearly every Enna tribesman there. Naïlo barely escaped with her life while Leucosa was away at war against a neighboring orcish clan. The two of them have since sworn vengeance against dragons as a whole.

Ennawood[edit]

The Ennawood covers nearly the entirety of Taurë and was the home of the Svar-enna for centuries before an ancient blue dragon destroyed almost all of the them. Now, electrical blasts scar the forested landscape, which is now haunted with the ghost of the Svar-enna.

Wrallin[edit]

The sister island to Namara, Wrallin wholly occupied by the Empire. Much of Nack's armies and fleet are trained and developed here.

Taran[edit]

Located on the western edge of the main island, Taran is a trading town that specializes in exporting the manufactured goods of Wrallin to the rest of the Empire.

SH 671, April 1st: A group of pirates, part of the infamous Blue Bandits, manage to infiltrate and hijack the Copper Coin which had recently been docked at Taran. (read more on Special Episode: "Pirates Aboard the Grape Marauder!")

Ipsin[edit]

The capital city of Wrallin, Ipsin is the trading hub of the island located on the main island's eastern edge. The primary construction sites for the ships of the Nack Fleet, including the specialized Dragon Bladder Ships are located within the city.

Fleetsdale[edit]

This smaller city is located on the smaller, northern island. Recruits for the Nack Army are sent here from all over the Empire for their initial training. From there, many of them will travel to the main island for future training in the Nack Fleet. However, some of the more disciplined soldiers of the army remain in Fleetsdale, where their training focuses more on hand-to-hand combat rather than aerial combat.
